‘Learn Liturgy Well to Live Fully Every Mass,’ Says Pope – ZENIT – English

“I give a warm welcome to the Arabic-speaking pilgrims, particularly those from Iraq, Egypt, and the Middle East!”, said Pope Francis during his General Audience of December 20, 2017.

This morning’s General Audience was held at 9:30 in the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall where the Holy Father Francis met with groups of pilgrims and faithful from Italy and from all over the world.

The Pope spoke in Italian, translated immediately into Arabic by one of his collaborators in the Roman Curia: “Saint Thomas of Aquinas taught that in the sacred liturgy it is necessary to “make use of material things as signs, through which the human soul is urged to spiritual actions that join him to God” (S.Th. IIa IIae q. 81 a. 7).

“Dedicate yourselves to learning the meaning of every liturgical action to life fully every Eucharistic celebration, and thus to fill yourselves with its divine fruits.”

Pope Francis concluded, praying: “May the Lord bless you all and protect you from evil!”
